DROP-IN ADVISING

Drop-in advising is offered every day in Behavioral Sciences Building (BSB) Room 301 to help HDFS students get quick questions answered (like class overrides, forms signed, quick class questions). Drop-in advising is not intended to replace advising appointments and is limited to quick questions, so graduation or full semester planning is not done during these times. No appointment is necessary.

  • Monday - 1:00-2:00 pm
  • Tuesday - 10:30-11:30 am
  • Wednesday - 2:00-3:00 pm
  • Thursday - 3:00-4:00 pm
  • Friday - 11:00 am-12:00 pm

Drop-in advising is not offered during university breaks or summer term.

CHANGE OF MAJOR PROCESS

Students interested in changing their major to Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) or Early Childhood Education (ECE), adding either as a second major, or simply exploring the majors, must meet with an advisor.

If you are interested in HDFS, click on the link above to schedule an advising meeting and choose the CHANGE OF MAJOR option. You will be directed to schedule a change of major advising appointment time to meet with a Graduate Assistant or Peer Advisor that is convenient for you.

Change of major advising appointments with Graduate Assistants and Peer Advisors are held during fall and spring semesters, not during finals’ week or semester breaks. If you want to change your major during a semester break or during finals week – call the HDFS Undergraduate Advising Office main phone number (970) 491-4947.

If you are interested in ECE, you will click on the link above to schedule with your HDFS advisor (if already declared) or, if you are not an HDFS major, schedule your appointment to meet with the prospective ECE advisor.

Gerontology Interdisciplinary Minor advising is also available to those exploring, adding, or completing the minor. Click on the link above to schedule an appointment.
